Managed over 100 disaster response and recovery programs.  Held positions of Deputy Director of the Disaster Housing Office; Area Coordinator; and Director of Operations.

1995 - 2003               Appointed to Gov. Cabinet 

AEMA Director by Governor Fob James, (Republican) from 1995 - 1998 and Governor Don Siegelman, (Democrat) in 1999 - 2003. Also appointed by Governor Siegelman as the Deputy Director of the Alabama Department of Homeland Security.

2003- Present           Owner of Lee Helms Associates, L. L. C.

Renee Helms, Manager; and Rachel Jones, Administrative Assistant. Completed and continuing projects include working with local governments in 46 of the 67 Alabama counties; Five Private Companies; One State Dept.; utilizing as many as ten sub-contractors and partnering with additional companies when appropriate.
